he Wadsworth Public Library is an independent library serving the Wadsworth area. The Library’s collection numbers more than 200,000 items, and customers have ready access to additional items available from other libraries around the state. Through the computerized catalog, borrowers may request materials from other locations and have them delivered to the Wadsworth Library for pick up. The Library also provides free access to online research resources, plus a professional reference staff to assist in locating materials to meet the customer’s informational needs.

In addition to print materials, the Library’s collection includes DVDs for adults and children, videocassettes (both informational and feature films); books on tape, on CD, and in MP3 format; music on CD; and a variety of adult and children’s CD-ROMs. A framed art print collection allows customers to update their home or office décor as often as they wish.

The main library features a drive-up service window and two book drops, separate reading lounges for teens and adults, two community meeting rooms, and a local history room. There are 16 computer workstations on the first floor and eight in the second-floor Children’s Department. Additionally, the Library is a “hotspot” for wireless access to the Internet. Anyone with a personal computer or PDA with wireless capability may access the Internet, free of charge, from most locations in the Library.

The Friends of the Library operates Books & Baubles, a used book shop that also features gifts for all ages plus stationery supplies including floppy discs, notebooks, pens, and pencils. The shop is located inside the Library, just beyond the lobby.

Those unable to get to the Library are assisted by the Outreach Services Department that provides library materials to area nursing homes, senior facilities, nursery schools and day care centers. Customers may request books, videos and other items through Pelican Post, a postage-paid mail service. Outreach Services also oversees the Library’s Bookmobile service to area schools, day care centers and neighborhoods.

As an added convenience, Buehler’s Food Market (175 Great Oaks Trail) serves as a book drop site for library customers. Most borrowed items may be returned at Buehler’s to be transported by their staff to the main library.
